The Pikachu Illustrator. It was never sold in packs: it was a prize for winners of illustration contests run by the Japanese magazine CoroCoro Comic in 1997–98, and only 39 copies were awarded. Only one has ever been graded PSA 10 (Gem Mint), and that single card holds the record.

First edition Pokémon cards (1st Edition)

• Shadowless: no stamp and no shadow. Worth the most after 1st Edition.
• Unlimited: the later print, with a shadow on the art box.
